Valencia Fashion Week IV
Trends and faces for the collections of Autumn/Winter 08/09

The fourth edition of the Valencia Fashion Week has lived up to anticipated expectations, whilst stressing the large audience of over 10,000 people who attended and over 100 authorised media journalists who have accurately followed the three days of fashion parades within the grounds of the Valencia Fair.

A budget of 900,000€ from both public and private sponsors has enabled the creation of a large deployment of technical means inside the 5,500m² of pavilion 8, with a capacity of 700 seats, which have shone on each parade with 200,000w of light and sound.

INTERNATIONAL CASTING OF MORE THAN 60 MODELS
VALENCIA FASHION WEEK IV has had prestigious Top Models from the international scene. There have been famous faces such as those of Bimba Bosé, Laura Sánchez, Marta Español, Caroline Duong, Madeleine Hjört, Densie Sommers, Arancha Santamaría, Godeliv, or the Valencians Maite de la Iglesia and Sara de Antonio. To them we have to add the male presence of Jon Kortajarena, Javier de Miguel or the Valencian Alex Guinot, who have paraded the collections of Valencian fashion at the fashion show for the following autumn/winter.

TRENDS
The Off-the-peg collections presented at Valencia Fashion Week IV have gone for white and especially black as basic colours for the day and night, which have acquired diverse connotations and inspirations from each designer. There is also an abundance of printed fabric and large-squared tartans in urban looks of British inspiration in risqué combinations of tissues and textures.
Men have had a significant presence during this Week, for whom ways of urban expression have been devised which share both the type of sophistication and elegance that have been almost exclusively for women in fashion shows up until now.

THE DESIGNERS
Linked to Valencia Fashion Week, the following names are consolidated in this edition: Porfin!, Tonuca, Nona, Dolores Cortés, Álex Vidal y Álex Vidal Jr., Mónica Lavandera, Yiyí Gutz, Hoet or Ion Fiz.
David Delfín, who was a guest designer at the close of the fashion parade, displayed his DUAL collection, which was presented in the previous edition of Cibeles, together with the novelties of his second line “Da David Delfín”.

Young and up and coming designers find that Valencia Fashion Week has a valuable projection platform in ZONE D which, having been promoted by authorised panels of judges, aspires to become a pool of young designers to enhance the official programme of fashion parades at Valencia Fashion Week. In this edition the Zone D Award, which was set at 3,000€ and granted by Mercedes-Benz Comercial Valencia, has gone to the young designers José Zambrano. Creativity in a pure form has been expressed in the Modakaos parade, which continues to improve its quality in the proposals from Fine Arts students from the Valencian Community, thanks to the balance between artistic formulations, the global concept of the philosophy of the collections or even due to the industrial participation that defines fashion.

MERCEDES AWARD – SENSATIONAL MODELS
Following the guidelines that were initiated in the previous edition, the participating designers at Valencia Fashion Week IV voted on the casting of models to select the Most Sensational male and female Model, with attention paid to their career path as professionals having a future inside the current fashion scene.
It was unanimously decided to award the prize to Lourdes Coterón and Fonsi Alcaraz through Mercedes Benz-Comercial Valencia, both of whom received 1,500€.
