Biography of Yono Taola

Yono Taola

COLLECTION mother spider

In this autumn and winter collection of 2010, Yono Taola drinks from the work and experiences lived by Louise Caroline Bourgeois. Throughout her entire career, she was an artist who was influenced by a difficult childhood.

She was born in the heart of a family of upholstery restorers and the only memories of family union were those when they restored upholstery together, using needles (an element that is very apparent in her work and on which she bestows a new meaning that is familiar and more positive).

From her creation, we have taken up the figure of her woman again, one of confrontation in the face of opposition, hardness when faced with fragility, one with a need for a family, a need for protection (her mother spiders, deprived of their predator aspect, she bestows on them a maternal air). As if it were a mother spider, we use volumes that are released from the body by way of armour or protection. The fragility is expressed through pieces of organic forms that intertwine in the same way as memories of a difficult childhood are mixed together.

The garments are created by threads of wool which symbolise the desire for family union.

The hardness is represented by the synthetic leather, by strong elastic tissues and wool, which confront light cottons and fluid gauzes.

As a suitable means of life, this season Yono Taola is using an organic type of printed fabric where blacks are mixed with greens, copper colours, navy blues, whites, natural colours, greys and fuchsia.
